Photographer, Hair and Makeup Artist and Model chosen !!

Check, Check and Check !!

Since moving to the Adelaide Tafe, opportunities have definitely risen for the Fashion Students. In our campus there are Hair and Make-up courses and across the road at the Arts Tafe there are Photography students.
So Tafe has arranged with them all to collaborate with us to do a photoshoot of one of our garments, which will be put in the end of year booklet with all the 3rd Year Graduates.

The Photography Students came in today with their lecturer to choose a designer that they'd like to shoot. My photographer's name is Megan Mackenzie, (she must be fantastic with a name like that, hahaha) :] I cannot wait to start exchanging ideas with her !

We had about 14+ models to choose from and I have decided to go with Lucy, you can see her towards the middle left of the pictures below. She has brown hair and features that I believe will suit my 50's style.

The Hair and Make-up Artists will be in next week to talk to us, so I will keep you updated as soon as we meet them !!

Outfit 2 - Jean- Final Toile Completed

'Jean' you were a pain in my butt !!

Chiffon is possibly one of the most annoying fabrics to sew with, right next to satin ! hahaha.

This is my final toile of my top for 'Jean', obvisouly its going to look a lot better in the real fabric, which is sort of a zebra print, but its brown and black like leopard print colours.

I had to change the design of the top, the original design just had a key-hole at the back of the neck, I thought that would be ok to get into, but I ended up making it more fitted, so Im putting an invisible zip at the side. I changed the shape of the original key-hole shape and then added another large gape underneith it.

This is what it will look like underneith my cropped jacket.

This was my second toile of my cropped jacket, I re-positioned the collar and put the sleeves on. The sleeves since then I have shortened to be about 3/4 long.

The 3rd piece of this outfit is a fitted, high-waisted skirt, about knee length. I didn't need to change the design of that at all, it looks great !

Outfit 1 -Lola- Final Toile Completed

So I have finally completed my final toile, all three pieces for my 1st outfit, 'LOLA'.

Most people don't realise that Pattern Making and toiling a garment actually takes a while !

For anyone who doesn't know what the term 'toile' means, it is "a garment of exclusive design made up of cheap cloth so that alterations and experiments can be made" I got that off google :] ...we use callico at tafe.

I do feel good to have completed a whole outfit, although I have not made the finished garments yet, the way I am compiling my range is completing only upto my final toile on each garment and then moving onto the next, so that I don't get too sick at looking at it, hahaha.

Once I have completed all twelve pieces of my range, I will cut them all out, which will take a few days ! and then sew them all together. Other students have chosen other methods in compiling their range, but this is what suits me the best.

I believe I have done quite well at recreating my 1st outfit, I didn't make many, if any changes to my original drawing designs.

Here are a few photos of 'Lola'

Obviously they're not as appealing in callico as they will be the real fabric.

This outfit contains the sleeveless top, bolero and pedal pushers.
